4.4.1. Mailbox password

Important points:

  • Password:
    • Length — 8-30 characters.
    • Must include at least one character of each of the following types: Latin letters, numbers, special characters +!@;#$%^&*~()-..
    • Should not include part of the name of the mailbox itself.
    • Not stored on the hosting. If you forget your password, your only option is to set a new one.
  • Changing the password for a mailbox will reset all active sessions.

Main password is for accessing the mailbox using WebMail.Online, and for logging in to WebMail classic and connecting to the mailbox using scripts and other mail clients (unless two-step authentication or app passwords are enabled).

The administrator can set a new password in the "Mailboxes" section in mailbox settings.

When using this method (unless two-step authentication or app passwords are enabled):

  • In the "Mailboxes" section, you will be able to log in without a password to WebMail.Online and WebMail classic.
  • Users will not be able to log in to the mailbox until the administrator tells them the new password.

The method is suitable for situations where both administrators and users with a password must have access to the mailbox.

The administrator can prohibit users from changing the mailbox password themselves. To do this, enable WebMail design for the mail domain with the disabled option "Allow users to change mailbox passwords".
